From Puglia, With Purpose

Masseria Trullo is rooted in Puglia, a region shaped by ancient olive trees and generations of agricultural knowledge. Here, olive oil is part of daily life. Poured generously, shared around the table, and valued for both its flavor and nourishment.

Why isn't olive oil as beloved in the U.S. as it is in other parts of the world?

Extra virgin olive oil remains widely misunderstood, especially in the United States, and is too often treated as a mild, anonymous pantry staple. Many have never experienced truly fresh olive oil: vibrant, aromatic, bitter, and peppery.
Masseria Trullo exists to change that. We see olive oil as a fresh expression of place, olive variety, harvest, and time. Deeply connected to its origin and capable of transforming the simplest meal.

Our Story

The idea for Masseria Trullo began somewhat unexpectedly at a mall in Westchester, New York. Daniele (our Master Olive Oil Producer) was visiting from Puglia, where his family has cultivated olive groves for generations.
While spending the day with Dan (our CEO), the two wandered into an upscale home and kitchen store and found themselves looking at bottles of high-end extra virgin olive oil.
Daniele couldn’t believe the prices. Oil made from his family’s groves had won international awards, yet in America, exceptional EVOO seemed either extraordinarily expensive or lost among supermarket oils of wildly varying quality.
Dan saw another part of the problem: most Americans had never been given the knowledge to understand the difference.
Dan suggested maybe they should start an olive oil company together.
“Let’s do it,” Daniele said.
What began as an idea, became a conversation, then a plan, then something of an obsession:
Bring exceptional Puglian EVOO to America, directly from groves Daniele knows intimately, at a price that reflects the quality of the oil rather than the hype surrounding it.
